I think this technology can have a positive and negative impact on the economy. The positive impact is that people will have faster accsess to things they really need instead of having them sent from somewhere far. The negative impact is that people will have no need to go and buy the item which might put some people out of business. And everyone will have accsess to one some day because as newer ones are made the older version will be cheap.

Diana you are right on board with the fact that people will get out of business . Here in the United States media is very popular and news gets around real quick. Imagine a printer that can build a house ? You think company's would want to send money paying workers or spending 2,000 on a printer . This is a tought topic.

The positive outcome is that this project will can be become famous and provide many things and save money. People wont have to go to stores or out the country for their sources instead they can just make them at home all you have to do is spend 2,200 for the printer . The bad outcome is that stores will receive less money and if hooligans start taking bad advantage and print out weapons will be terrible use and can cause death.

The main idea of this video is that they invented a "3D Printer "that will eventually create any type of object including body parts. But many people are concerned because this means that they will eventually create guns n other dangerous objects. In addition, they're concerned because it will effect the economy since they're isn't enough money that the government has anymore. Eventually, the more technology that is invented, the more money is using.

the political impact of this new technology is that they created a 3D printer that will print anything you want , including body part and food. they're making gun parts as well. this can have a positive and a negative impact on the economy. the positive is that you wont need to go to the store to buy the things you need because you can just print it but the negative is that the stores selling these objects might go out of busiiness.

The 3d printer is going to revolutionize the worlds economy. For example now one doesn't have to go to the store to buy the product one needs. Now one would have the option to make the product one needs. Now if one want something like food, toys and body parts. One will have the option to print it out which I think is pretty awesome.

3 D printing would make a huge impact in the economy/country. Though 3 D printing can have a positive or negative impact people may use it for good or bad. This type of technology can be used to print organs ears skin etc. and help thousands of people who are waiting for a transplant etc. People (criminals) may use 3 D printing to print gun parts since its so easy and cheaper.

The impact this printer is going to have on people could be both good and bad at the same time because n the way its a good thing is because things can be done quicker and as well many lives can be saved. As well as now instead of saying you wish to have something you could for the most part just print it out. The disadvantage of it is that many people can use it for a bad purpose such as printing a gun and therefore many deaths can be caused. Also with these printers many more people can loose there jobs just because a machine can now do the same thing a common person could do.

This printing technology can impact economy and culture in two ways which are the following , It can affect the people that are trying to get a job in order to provide income into the family's home. Though on the owners of the big company's would be glad for this to happen as they wold not have to worry on paying salary wadges. It can affect culture in a way that people would get lazier and wouldn't worry about a single thing as they would have a printer to make then anything they want.

But also this technology can be good use for many people because it can save money. In my opinion i think the weapon printing not a good thing too do because probably most people can take it too far and instead of using for a good thing and if it being used for violence the weapon printing would not be a good idea for the safeness of people.

3D printing can and will impact the economy and culture in many ways possible. There is many positives such as helping the sick, having more supplies that we didn't have in the past etc. It can also have a negative effect such as people who take advantage of this invention. My opinion is that this is a great invention though because everything will always have pros and cons anyways.

The potential impact of 3-D printing are both profound and unclear. On one hand the ability to print out materials in this manner can help with organ transplants. According to the Forbes.com article, "Princeton professors also created a bionic ear made from living cells...(forbes.com)." This will improve the scarcity of viable organs for those in need and extend lives. If such advances are successful the culture of our society could become one high quality health and the extension of life.

In regards to the economy this technology will eliminate the need for some jobs while increasing the demand for others. For example the attached you tube clip refers to a California professor that plans to print out buildings. This would change the human capital of construction from a laborer with their hands to one who is skilled at programming and using 3-D printers. Many people will have to change their skill sets in order to stay relevant in this economy.

Mr. Lawson,

I agree with you in that distinct changes are coming in regards to this technology. You mentioned in your post that printing of bio materials will extend life and raise its quality. I am not so sure this is the case, In the Forbes article it says "Blinking contact lenses and bionic ears are two perfect examples that may sound weird in the beginning, but show that...using the latest technology can result in true innovation (forbes.com)." I am not so sure that upgrading our biology is such a good idea. What happens if upgrades become mandatory? Or how might our ethics be tested if one can always upgrade yourself? Who will create these standards and benefit from them?

My hope is that this technology equals the standard of living for us all. If left unchecked it could create an even more distinct social class based upon physical characteristics. This has proven dangerous in the past as seen in here in America over centuries and intensely in Nazi Germany during the 30's

3-D printing has many impacts that can beneficial and non beneficial to many people. It can be beneficial because according to the Forbes article they are creating body parts using a 3-D printer. This can help those people in need of an organ transplant, which will save many lives. It can prevent scarcity from people who cant afford to eat. People would be able to afford food by just being able to print anything they want. I believe that there will be more business's because according to the video people are making profit from the objects being printed. Many corporations are starting to make business with others to obtain what they need.

3-D printing can also be non beneficial for the many people because many business's wont need so much workers to do the job. With the printer they wont have to pay so many workers and the owners would be making more money. Therefore is beneficial for the business owners but not the workers. According to the video people are using the 3-D printer to create guns. This is beneficial to those who are involved with the military. They would have so many weapons that will make them more powerful. It can also be non beneficial because people want less violence, therefore, it will cause drama all over the world. It can affect many business's because if there are many people who have a 3-D printer then it will prevent them from wasting so much money in food because they will be able to make their own supplies.

Is it possible that since people could print out weapons the world will become safer. If everyone can print out a super weapon wouldn't that deter people from attacking one another?

What would you build if you can print out anything? Is it so bad if people don't have jobs if they have access to whatever they want or need? Wouldn't there be more time to create and interact with others since you don't have to focus on work?

I believe that the world wont be safe because not everyone would be able to afford a printer, therefore, not everyone would have a super weapon. Then the people with a super weapon would want to take advantage of those who don't, which would cause chaos. If people want to allow printed weapons the government should make a law of who can own one.
If I were to print anything I would print a house for my family and would build each house close so that I won't be far from my family. It is bad for low income people to not have jobs because they wont be able to afford a printer so not everyone will have the benefit to printing.

Mr. Rodriguez

After watching the 16x9 video, 3D Printing: Make anything you want, I am truly amazed and was left in awe at the countless ways this is going to change our society as a whole. For example, the video mentions that Wake Forrest's School of Medicine professors are already working towards making organs that can definitely help the long list of patients who are waiting for transplants. Moreover, it will also reduce the organ rejection rate of patients and possibly serve to extend our life spans. If I can extend my life another 10-15 years then I'm definitely going to invest in it.

However, I still have concerns about 3D printing and its impact on the labor force in our country - especially working class members. For instance, if producing materials becomes this simple then that means the loss manufacturing jobs simply because there will be no need. Therefore, working class members will be the ones most at risk of loosing their jobs. This will make the pursuit of higher education even more imperative to a person's career and financial success.

3-D printing has gone to a point where you can print body parts and help anyone in need of one. But the impact it will have is people will take advantage of it. It may help those in need but what if it does not function like your regular organs. It will change the culture how instead of changing just one organ you will have to change some other one for it to work correctly. The way it will impact the economy is it will cause people jobs also people will print things that should be allowed and can cause some type of violence.

This technology will create new jobs for people who have the skill sets required to build the machines, ink, and build things using these printers, but on the other side it could also lead to people who's skills are no longer useful like people who build everyday things or construction workers to lose their jobs because a machine could do whatever they do free of pay and possibly better. These people would need to figure out how to find a skill set that would be useful.
This could also have a huge impact on culture because people would print out whatever they want, like what the guy said in the video said, "We're not far from printing an iPod" this means that people who perhaps couldn't afford these kind of things could print them out almost free of cost. It could cause problems though, if people begin to use it to print out illegal things (i.e guns or other weapons) to cause harm their could be a huge problem for law enforcement and the people who are around them.

3-D printing seems to have everyone fascinated with the idea that one can print out ANYTHING. The side effects are the negative impacts 3-D printing will have in culture and economy.

As of now people are already loosing jobs. If people buy 3-D printers to do a humans job there will be no need for human skilled workers. In the youtube video attached, Mia Sheldon says "before, it was making one by one". She is referring to humans manually creating organs one by one. Dr. Anthony responds, "now we can make thousands of organs just by printing". Before the 3-D printer they needed of skilled workers, now they just need a printer. People who are specifically skilled for that will not have a job.

With 3-D printing, what is printed will no longer have meaning. Put it this way; someone creates a unique hand bag and carries it around. A person with a 3-D printer can create the same bag and the original bag will no longer be unique. Also, if people can print ANYTHING, weapons WILL be printed. In the youtube video, Cody is trying to create a digital design for a gun that anyone can download and print. This will promote more violence considering that people will have the ability to have their own gun made at home.

Yes, 3-D printing is a fascinating idea but it does has it's consequences. Some of these consequences are loss of jobs, violent weapons, and loss of value in objects.

Weapons part can also be made without getting a license. I also think that 3-D printing can help gain job and take jobs away from people. The skilled work can be replaced by a printer and someone that is skilled with the 3-D printer.

After watching the video I saw how much 3D printing can affect our economy. I saw how it could solve some issue of scarcity to help those in need at the hospital by replicating their organs and tissues. I also saw how it 3D printing can change the needed jobs as you would need more programmers to progrem the blueprint for the 3D printer. So in a way 3D printing can change the future for the better since you would no longer need to need to find suitable donner to help save a life but instead can replicate an organ of the same DNA to save that life but in the other said it would make it harder to get a job in the future as you would need to be highly skilled at programing to make a blueprint correctly.
As for the culture of the country I feel that people would learn to eventually learn to get use to 3D printing we might even end up getting obsessed with it like we are with the interent today. I say this because if 3D keeps advancing it could reach the point where it even makes our foods like in the politcial cartoon and it would be as normal as cooking food in your kitchen. In the end 3D printing will cause many controversial discussions but after everything is sorted out it will change our future to help fix the issue of scarcity that we face today.

The potential impact of 3-D printing can be both positive and negative. As a positive outcome there is the ability to be able to print out organ transplants which is beneficial for the people who are currently on a transplant waiting list. As a result, there will now be a higher chance for the people in need of an organ transplant, to survive. However according to the video there are "negative" outcomes to 3-D printing, such as the ability to print out gun parts. This causes a controversy for 3-D printing and if it will have a positive or negative effect for the future. With such advanced technology people will use it to their advantage, whether if it is a necessity or simply a want for more materialistic things.

After watching this video about 3D printing , i say that this can help us in a way but it can hurt us even more. It can hurt us because a lot of people will start losing jobs. Also they are probably going to start making unknown object and start selling that for a lot of money. And that will hurt the people that don't really have money. Also the 3D printing can help us because it can make body parts that people need to live. So the donations rate will go lower and people wont pass away.

I think that the 3D printing is a good and bad idea. Its good because it'll help alot of people get what they need like the organs. Its bad because its prolly made just for people who can afford it,plus they making stuff we dont need like guns.

After watching the video i think that 3d printing will help alot of people because people will be able to print out what they need. It will help the society, but probably some people might use it for crime. 3d printing will help some people and it will kind of bad for other people.

I believe that 3D printing will have both a positive and negative impact on the economy and culture of the country. This type of printing allows people to create anything that is necessary to them, which helps save money. It helps people in a way that is fast and easy because all they have to do is press a couple of buttons that tells the printer exactly what to print out. But, 3D printing is also negative because some people will take advantage of it. Some will use this to print things that will be a danger to society and put people's lives at risk.
Overall, I believe that 3D printing will have some type of effect on people whether it is positive or negative. It should be allowed for anyone to use just as long as there are some restrictions on what can be printed out.

The potential impact of 3-D printing can be both positive and negative. As a positive outcome there are people who are waiting for organs and things they need now to make it beneficial. This will help those who are needed for surviving. However the negative things that the 3-D printing can do is built guns for example. Another example is peoples jobs. This machine is practically something anybody can get and make (almost) anything you want.

I think this printing device is really going to affect our economy me or jobs ,and the way we live and shop. Because people due to this device now people can make whatever they need like the man said I biggest thing that people my be interested in is food. That's right who wouldn't like to make their own foods they want and desire.

My opinion on the video is that Bio 3D printing is going to have a positive and negative on the economy. It is going to have a positive impact on the economy because it is gong to help generate/make organs for people that are waiting for them. Which means that 3D printing is going to save many people's lives. It can also have a negative impact on the economy because if the 3D printing is not used in medical uses, it can be used in the work force. Which results in many employees losing their jobs because of the 3D printer. For example, if 3D printing is used in a warehouse, the owners won't have to pay employees to make parts or manufacture, they can just fired that employee because the printer will take the employees position.

I think that 3D printing can benefit the world in many ways. With 3D printing we can create body parts such as lungs, heart, and kidneys which can potentially save people's lives. 3D printing can also make common objects that some people don't have available in countries where they cannot find the specified item of supplies are limited. Bowls, spoons, tables, desks, and other things can benefit the economy and also benefit others things such as education.
