The protest happening in Los Angeles and across the nation, even internationally, is caused by the ongoing violence black people suffer by the hands of police who even when caught on camera rarely face justice. George Floyd was murdered by officer Derek Chauvin and 3 others. It took officials 5 days to arrest him which is unacceptable. Peacefully protesting by kneeling didn’t work and in fact caused Colin Kaepernick his job. Peaceful protest also didn’t cause change in this system that is supposed to provide justice for all. It is completely unacceptable that after murdering an unarmed black person the most police have to fear is losing their jobs. It’s disgusting, police deserve to be held accountable and punished by the law like anyone else. It will stop when justice is served. When George Floyd gets justice. When Trayvon Martins gets justice. When Eric Garner gets justice. When Tamir Rice gets justice. When Breonna Taylor gets justice. When the countless people who have lost their lives to the police simply because of their skin color get justice it will stop. All lives cannot matter until Black Lives Matter. Until then the country can tear itself apart for all I care.

The current unrest in Los Angeles and in the rest of the country is something that has been building up for a very long time. The tension in the entire country has been building up before 1992. With there being injustices with African Americans, mainly, and other minorities. People are tired of seeing their innocent people die at the hands of police or police overpowering their power with people whose skin isn’t white. Therefore, when the videos started to hit social media about George Floyd murder people knew it was time to call it quits. We haven’t seen the whole country riot, loot and stand together like this since 1992. As minorities, we’ve been silent about the injustices that have been happening so now it’s time to stand together and riot. Since no one wanted to listen when we were asking for justice in the civil way. Now it’s time to riot and how MLK once said “A riot is the language of the unheard”. Although I don’t agree with the violence and looting that is coming from the protesters I understand why they’re doing it. Even when people are trying to protest peacefully police still are tear gassing people and harming them with rubber bullets. The only way that this will stop is by there being justice and arrests for the people that have been killed in the hands of police when they weren’t doing anything wrong and better police training that stops police from acting violently towards minorities or people they view as “dangerous”.

The current unrest in Los Angeles and in the rest of the country is something that's hurting everyone. Colored people are being murdered for doing nothing. George Floyd was killed my Derek Chauvin and 3 others and that's not okay. Ahmaud Arbery was also killed by two white men and he was just going for a jog. It's sad how we can't just go outside without being scared if someones going to attack. In this country we have rights but what's the purpose of having rights if people are just going to violate. Color shouldn't be the death sentence of someone and the protest are trying to change this. But, I also believe that there's a difference between protesting and looting and what's happening of them destroying businesses is not okay. I believe this is happening so there can be change and so colored people wouldn't be scared nor would they be violated from their rights. This will stop when there's justice and when everyone sees there's change in this world because its disgusting how a police officer someone that's suppose to be a leader kill someone that's just wrong.

Unbeknown to him, Derek Chauvin's action of kneeling on a black man's neck and killing him would cause for a ripple of protests to occur nationwide. The death of George Floyd was the breaking point for many minorities in the U.S. as they were fed up with police brutality many black men faced. Many cities like Los Angeles have had protests and riots for the lives of black men who are killed by police men everyday. Once black men are able to live in this nation without the fear of being killed by police men for looking "suspicious" then these protests will stop.

With everything going on my thoughts don’t seem to align with all the unrest. As someone who is now studying US History the thought that this is a year that is going to be very drastic in history of the future the thought is very frightful. I can surely say that this was a build up of all the cruelty and hate that the police were provoking towards the black community. They said in past history that the times have changed but this community is still being treated as less and uncivil like before. The protests are occurring because of the death of George Floyd. Although there had already been more deaths because of hate this was the last straw for everyone to keep their quiet. It was the breaking point of a silent community. I am not in support of the looting because it makes it seem as if we as people don’t have control over ourselves. But the police brought that among themselves for disturbing peaceful protests. The news of the coronavirus seems to have been forgotten with everything going on, but people should also consider that in a big protest there are higher chances of this virus to increase once again. I don’t blame the people, I blame the government for being so ignorant of everything they are causing and not deciding to make up for their actions.

My thoughts about all of this is that the current unrest in Los Angeles and in the rest of the country is something that has been building up for a very long time. And now about what happen to George Floyd. This should stop because violence generates more violence and it will not be able to stop, and I also think that people are already abusing it. It is not George Floyd's thing. People are forgetting the virus that is why we are in a curfew in our house. But I think this will stop when there's justice and when everyone sees there's change in this world because its disgusting how a police officer someone that's suppose to be a leader kill someone that's just wrong and not in this way.

The unrest of Derek Chauvin for killing George Floyd is very unacceptable. Derek Chauvin had 18 other prior complaints against him, if the situation would of been taken care of correctly than George Floyd would of been alive at this time. I believe that all these protests and riots have been happening because people are tired of being oppressed, black people are always being killed or beaten for the color of their skin even when they are completely innocent. Derek Chauvin did not have to be hostile towards George Floyd, they could of approached George Floyd in a different way. George Floyd was not resisting arrest at all and the police were stating that George was resisting arrest when in the surveillance video also shows that he able to cooperate with the police. Black people need to stop being oppressed and everyone needs to be treated equal. Not only that but George Floyd needs to be given justice.

My thoughts and feelings are mixed about all this unrest happening. The fact that the media portrays the minority's protest different from those of the white man is upsetting. They say with no shame that the colored protesters are "thugs" and "criminals" while they call white people who destroy things and fire weapons "young stupid kids" or "upset people". And the fact that our president is allowing all this for white men but wants to send in the national guard for colored peaceful protesters. Our "leader" is immature and is hungry for attention whether its positive or negative. The curfew we are being put under is some bullshit too. Its just another reason for cops to arrest people. The outside groups that are causing all this violence are making the peaceful protests look like they are violent. The white people use the protests to loot and vandalize places and give them a reason to say "Fuck 12" when they are not affected by the police day by day. And the police brutality that continues along with the unnecessary arrests is just stupid. Its horrible how people can just become cops now and use the power of the badge to feel supreme to the minorities witch will soon be the majority.

My thoughts on this situation is that it’s very devastating that we still have to face racism and oppression. People are angry at the system that’s suppose to protecting us. This is a hate crime we are being faced from authorities that abuse their power. People around the world are coming together to stand against the racist system.

A lot of what has been occurring is due to build up and all the hate that white supremacy, police brutality, hate, and violence have against African American people. This was breaking point for people. Peoples lives who are innocent need stop being taken away at the hands of systemic racism and oppression. There is no more silence because we can not sit here and watch anymore people be killed in front of us by a system that has killed hundreds. Looking at the media they try and portray the victims and their families as attention seekers and hypocrites. They try and call the victims thugs or like they were asking to be killed. The media tries to portray peaceful protests as a bomb ticking to go off because “we are crazy animals” that just want violence. I blame the ignorance of the government. When the government is tired of hearing us they try and shut us up by giving a little justice which never does anything just to make it seem like they did something. The governments only say is threatening to shoot us for wanting to be heard.

It was bound to happen. That’s all I have to say. People thought we were going to let 400 and plus years with discrimination and racism to keep happening? No. We are fed up. People are tired of not being safe. “Serve and protect” that is what cops are supposed to do. And they don’t do it with everyone. I feel empathic with those in pain. I feel like things won’t stop until they get what they want. George Floyd may have done something illegal but if he was in cuffs he did not have to die. Nobody deserves to die like that. No matter if you’re white, black, Hispanic, Asian, etc. Nobody should die like that. Look at the protests, cops are shooting people with rubber bullets, or gassing them. These same things have happened in these protests have happened in previous ones. Why is it the same thing? The causes of these events are quite simple to understand: racism, discrimination, racial profiling, etc. If it was the other way around god knows what white people would do. No matter how many years or decades have passed, this will always be the same. People are just more ignorant about it these days just because it’s not out there.

My thoughts on the the recent unrest in Los Angeles and across the country is that I see it so regular .Racism and people not having equal rights have been going on for years. So many been fighting for equal rights since forever .Now with Gorge Floyd death its seems like everyone has come together to fight and stand up for their lives. Its good that everyone else cares now and are making a change .I personal think the protest shouldn’t stop but the violence that the protesters are creating should stop.

My thoughts on the recent unrest in Los Angeles and across the country is that I feel normal, because this is always happening in this country. Black people suffering from police brutality is always happening, it's just that with this most recent death of George Floyd it sparked a lot of controversy. A bunch of people started to protest and riot, and I understand this is a way to show justice and respect to George Floyd. But what I didn't like is that some people started looting stores, how is looting showing justice, and there some people that don't go the protests to show justice, they just go to take pictures and leave. But sadly police brutality is always going to happen, and racism will never end, we will never have equality in this world, it's the sad truth.

In my honest thoughts about the recent unrest in Los Angeles and across the country is that it is all finally all coming together. Americans are now using their voice together and protesting loud to voice their opinions about racial justice. After the death of George Floyd, big crowds of protesting came across the whole country. Although there many other cases of wrongful treatments, the death of Mr.Floyd just made everything that was built up before, and explode with protestors. In addition, I do not go for the purpose of lotting because it is not a good time to take "advantage", but a time to fight for the black community. I believe that this is all happening because of the system that the people are forced to live under. It is not fair and it is now making people speak loud about it. In my opinion, I do not know what will lead it to stop, but I think a special change will lead it to stop. Some ordinary change will not be able to take away all the mistreatments and racial injustice that was done by authorities.
