(SOC) March 2021: Coronavirus pandemic distance learning for one year. What are your thoughts about school at this point in the pandemic? What works for you, what doesn't? What would you like to see happen next.

At this point I'm getting used to using the computer and completing my assignments and attending all my zoom classes. I like how we end at noon so I have some time for me and work. I also like how our teachers are working with us with this virtual classes because it can be stressful at times and they understand that and help us out when we need it. I would eventually want to go back to school but I want to take safety precautions so I won't get sick but still be able to learn.
Melvin Mateo (Per.5)

I agree with you with the fact of I've gotten used to working on my computer and staying at home to work. The teachers are so helpful and understanding.

I like staying home it's more better than being in the classroom. But, I feel we learn more in the classroom. But in the end I always try my best to learn everything on hand.

melvin I agree its better staying but kids feel more into the lesson at school.

My thoughts about school at this point is we shouldn't be rushing it and we should not force people to take the shot's.What works for me is waking up earlier and just having the chance of still being in bed for class, mostly paying attention in class without getting distracted by day dreaming in class. What doesn't work for me is that I am always sleepy during class and that I wake up after 1st period. I would like to see happen next is eventually seeing school open and going back safety when we want too and not being force to get shot's.
3/2/2021 09:03:14 am
I agree with you because I don't want to get the shot. I would also like for school to open because I feel like I don't do my work like I did in school..but then I also dont want to go back because I like being home.
3/2/2021 11:56:06 am
I agree with you because students, who are in distance learning are feeling less motivated to put in the work and try to get good grades. It is a lot more easier for the student to get distracted from what they are doing because they feel like it's not required to do it. If the schools were to open they would have to follow the rules of the pandemic and stay 6ft from each other, But knowing that the kids will not proceed with the protocol. This procedure should not be forced to make us hurry and get the shot because we still don't know all the side effect of the vaccine. This can cause a huge uproar between State of U.S politically wise.

I also agree that we should go back to school safely without getting a shot. The thing that works for me is that I am able to have plenty of rest. The thing that does not work is that getting many assignments that are due around the same time and each assignment takes time to do .Eventually I would like to have a way of learning that can be less stressful and being able to enjoy learning .
3/3/2021 10:18:56 am
I agree, because students are becoming a lot more lazy and less motivated.
3/1/2021 09:00:50 am
my thoughts about this point is that is very hard to learn and to wake up on time, what works for me is to get out at 12 what doesn't work is the amount of work and homework /assignments in one day or something is due that day as well so it puts pressure on me but other kids as well what i would like to see is more time to do work, start class a little bit late and hopefully back to school.
3/1/2021 09:01:31 am
I think staying at home is good since you can stay safer but the distance learning can be stressful sometimes,so i would prefer actually going to school.
3/1/2021 09:02:14 am
My thoughts about school so far is that everything is going ok I guess, I just dont like the fact that we get assigned so much work and then we have thing going on in our personal life that's just stressful and sometimes we can't focus in class or always get our homework done on time. I would like to see us go back to school on campus that's what I would like to see next.
Jasmine Flores (Per 5)
3/3/2021 08:49:07 am
I agree with you De"Arriona because I feel you when you said that it's stressful having so much work and personal things happening in our life that can distract us from school. I think it would be best to return back to school so I can be on my school work and not fall behind.
3/1/2021 09:06:06 am
I think distance learning has been very difficult with many people. But we are slowly getting used to it. But in my opinion I perder going to
3/3/2021 11:45:25 am
I agree with you because it is easier to focus when you are at school and you can get more things done.
3/1/2021 09:16:08 am
I feel school at this point is just mentally draining and kind of not healthy just looking at a screen for 5 to 6 hours. Every week feels like life is on replay mode going through the same thing.
3/4/2021 09:10:08 am
I agree, staying home is easier but students loose focus easy and are less motivated to work

Well my thoughts on online school is that im glad we're staying home since its for our safety and all but even though im used to doing virtual learning, its a bit hard since being at home is a little distracting lol

3/3/2021 08:50:18 am
I agree and I am also glad we're staying home during a really difficult time and I also used to doing distance learning.
3/1/2021 10:27:20 am
I feel like school isn't about learning and improving anymore during distant learning. In my opinion, students only worry about completing work only to get grades higher and satisfy parents instead of doing work and learning from it even if you do it wrong. It's the same thing everyday, waking up at 8 A.M. and being done with school at 3 P.M. I'm looking forward for sports to reopen for Locke so I can finally interact with other people and get out of routine.

According to CNN, the pandemic, our current circumstance has created an expansion in mental health issues inside and outside of classrooms. Students have begun to be lazy, doing just about or less than in classrooms (referring to grades and assignments). There is little to none excitement in classrooms, it is almost never that I can fully enjoy the classroom. However, how bad it may seem, it has its benefits as well, but I can argue, it does more harm than benefit (during the long run).
3/1/2021 11:21:42 am
when we were first told we would be getting 2 weeks off because of covid i was so happy to get a break from going to school everyday on our campus but if someone would have told us it was going to last a year i would never believed them. Distance learning isn't the best because i would rather be spending my last years of high school on campus making memories with friends before i graduate and it sucks i might not even get to spend my senior year at school how it should be but learning from our computer isn't as effective as it would be in person but were all working with what we can and distance learning isn't so bad beside my eyesight getting bad from being on my computer to much
3/1/2021 11:45:24 am
For me, it's hard to concentrate in online school since we're at home and whatnot.

I agree, since we're at home, its a little distracting because we're in an environment thats not really meant for working :) (in my opinion)

I feel like school at this point doesn't feel like school it just feels like something for us to be doing. One thing that works for me is that it is not that long. One thing that doesn't work for me is when I need help on certain assignments. One thing I would like to see happen is being able to find a way to make school somewhat interesting.
3/1/2021 12:49:56 pm
the thing i would want to change is us going back to school
3/1/2021 01:04:11 pm
When I first heard that we were in a pandemic, I was shocked that I we were in a pandemic. The only bad thing is that there is no interaction with the students because they feel like they are not required to do it. Going back to school is the best option in order to work with other people because students does not feel required to work on their assignments. This way of learning feels like we are setting us up for failure because we have less interaction with our classmates. I'm used to both ways of learning because I am used to with both ways of learning. This will also gained the interaction with the students a lot more better. Distance learning is not for everyone because some people thrive meeting the teacher/student face to face.
3/1/2021 01:13:38 pm
To be honest it hasn't really affected me all, I Am used to it but i would like to spend time with my friends and other family but i thought to myself, we got some good tech, we can facetime, video chat, play video games, and it not all bad ,it just gets boring from time to time but I also thought to myself that, If I have to stay inside from a virus and know it can affect my family then yes of course im staying inside. Knowing that it cant affect me but I can still carry it and pass it on, i rather stay inside.
3/2/2021 08:59:18 am
At this point school dosnt feel like school and the only thing that works is the time we get out and spend in class. The amount of work given is a lot and the due dates dont help either. At this point id rather be at school face to face than be over the computer.
3/2/2021 09:02:14 am
At this point of the pandemic I am hanging in there. It really could bring a toll on me time to time but I just rather stay safe from Covid. What works for me is online classes. What doesn't works is the fact that there's so much to do in one day or sometimes I cant catch up with online classes. What I would like to see happen next is going back to school and being back on track to graduate.
3/2/2021 09:06:00 am
I agree, online school isn't much of a problem it's just the amount of work that's given and some other students could say the same.

What I think about distance learning is it sucks, It makes it harder to do any work because I have no motivation to do it when I have all the things that I'd rather be doing in-front of me. Its also harder to get help when you're struggling. Its also very boring and I'd rather just join the class and ignore it while I'm on my phone or doing something else. Distance learning is like taking all the good things about school and getting rid of them and just leaving the boring and hard parts and taking away most of the help you get in real school.

At this point im getting use to getting up and doing my work when needed most of the time. I just don't like how at times I could be dealing with multiple classes all with important things to do and it then becomes hard and difficult to maintain and to stay stress free. I do and still want to go back to school since I prefer to do that instead of doing it on computers.

It is fine I guess. I mean I like it and have multiples advanteges, but I can't say that's perfect. Things like teachers don't knowing how to teach in distance learning because of the change, or some clases that I genuine wonder how they are doing that (like guitar class). Besides that there is a bigger problem, the fact that most of the students (me included) feel harder their clases. I do well in my classes, but others are failing just because is distance learning. I would like this to improve, but I know that it won't happen until we come back to regular classes.

what works for me now is that i can get around the computer faster and i'm settling in to the way online school works. what still doesn't work is my ability to focus on 1 thing at a time. what i would like to see happen next is to be able to get back to school.
3/2/2021 11:58:28 am
At this point right now it doesn't even feel like im at school im used to getting up early but the only thing i dont like is getting a lot of assignments from other classes i would rather be at school i hope next year we do if covid-19 cools down.

Personally I have a love hate relationship with virtual learning. Pros for it is that we come out earlier and I feel like it gave me a lot of time to realize a lot of things as well as working at my own pace . However I have a little more cons about it. For one being it´s hard to get the motivation to actually do work after zoom classes. It´s made it more difficult to sit done and give it my all like I did at school. Also Like CNN stated it causes a lot of anxiety and depression. I personally experienced both my first semester this year. It made school feel more overwhelming. therefore i had to do something else like get a job to clear my head and I get to socialize but trust me it´s helped but interferes with school. I honestly would love to go back to school but I wouldn´t want to risk it for my love ones as well as the love ones of

At this point in the pandemic, my thought about school is that they (teachers, counselors, other people) supported us a lot, and they gave us the chance to turn in assignments late. One thig that work for me is rest of the time after classes because of this way, we can do our assignments of all our classes and help our parents. One things that doesn't work is turn on the camera because many students don't be prepare to turn on the camera or don't feel comfortable. In the personal, I would like to go to the school as normal we did, but until new semester (in august).
3/2/2021 10:11:55 pm
My thought about school at this point in the pandemic is I don't like distance learning, because I'm getting used to using the computer, attending all the classes, and complete my assignments, and I'm so stressed because is the same routine everyday. It doesn't work because sometimes I'm confused, and I feel like I'm not learning. I would like to see happen next is go back to school because I miss everything about school.

As a student that has to do class on zoom and classwork on a laptop it becomes a bit annoying. Distance has made it easier and or more difficult for students but in my case I prefer distance learning because I tent to feel more comfortable and confident about my work because I feel I understand the topic through online learning.

I feel indifferent when it comes to distance learning because I feel as if i'm learning a sufficent amount of information for what is avaible via this platform. The schedule works for me and i'm okay with cameras being required but I do not appreciate homework or classwork due outside of the normal bell-schedule because I tend to not do it if that's the case. I would like to see campus reopen sometime in the future once vaccines and proper restricitions have been applied, even if it that isn't the case untill next school year.
3/3/2021 08:54:50 am
My thoughts about school at this point , i feel it’s very unnecessary right now especially during a pandemic , i also feel like it’s very hard for me to try and catch up and do all assignments while balancing what happens in my personal life .
3/3/2021 11:49:19 am
I honestly think school at this moment is very stressful for students, especially being quarantined.
3/4/2021 03:05:04 pm
Wow, it really has been a year since the pandemic started. My initial thoughts were with excitement since I remembered the days I spent with my family when there were no classes; however this was different. My parents live in Mexico and it's been three years I am living with my aunt and uncle. The atmosphere is different and my year was full of confusion, overwhelmingness, and fear. Emotions I always kept in started blooming making it so hard to complete simple tasks. Homework felt impossible and chores were taking time. Maybe I needed this time to confront my feelings but it is hard. I'd love to go back but at the same time I see things so pointless. I just don't want to lose hope.
3/4/2021 06:32:42 pm
i feel like school is really stressing because we have more work and for the other classes too and it is giving people anxiety and like we need to socialize with people from time to time and like i have to catch up with my classes and work to graduate and it is stressful
