Los Angeles Unified School District set to vote on mandating Covid-19 vaccines for eligible students: What are your thoughts about such a mandate? Read a linked article to use as evidence to support your opinion
9/9/2021 08:53:33 am
I think this mandate is a good thing. If everyone is vaccinated then the chances of Covid spreading on school campuses would be low. Also the chances of vaccines doing something bad to you is low. It's also not just a matter of school. If everyone is vaccinated then we can stop the spread of covid.
9/9/2021 08:54:43 am
My opinion on this is it really doesn't matter to me. I feel this way because either way i'm not going to get it until the last one comes out. I feel like even if someone get the shot they going to still find a way to get covid. Also I feel like these vaccines going to back fire one day.

I think it should be optional/choice if you want to get vaccinated because its your body your choice.

I believe that the vaccine mandate is a good thing because it would lower the amount of covid cases. It will also make students feel safer while at school. This could potentially ends the mask mandate in schools because we'll all be vaccinated. If the parents don't want to vaccinate then there is the option for online school.
Helen Escobedo p;1
9/9/2021 08:57:37 am
Its safer having the vaccine but i don't think people should be made to take it if they don't want too. I get that its important for the students and teachers but there is no need to make them take the vaccine. It should be their choice if they want to take it or not. There are several other ways in staying safe besides the vaccine.
9/9/2021 08:57:43 am
What i think is that if getting the vaccine can't stop you from getting covid-19,then why get vaccinated?Because the people want to get paid, and they want to stop it from spreading but its spreading more, and more.
9/9/2021 08:57:48 am
In my opinion i believe that they have no right to order us to get the vaccine i believe its a choice that we should have and not a choice someone else should have for us.
9/9/2021 08:58:35 am
I honestly wouldn't mind if the mandate happens or not. I'm already vaccinated so I don't have to worry about it much. Although my parents were okay with me getting vaccinated doesn't mean everyones should as well. It is the safer option but parents should still have a choice to get their children vaccinated or not.

My thoughts on mandating the Covid-19 vaccines for students is in the middle because people should have the choice to put the vaccine or not to. On the other hand Covid cases are on the rise and this can protect students in school. The article says students who decline to get the vaccine but don't have an exemption can enroll in a study program. Maybe this can help students who decline to get the vaccine.
Saishawn K P.1
9/9/2021 09:01:03 am
I feel students should not get vaccinated because when most people get the vaccine they leave a bad report some people even says " its the belly of the beast ".I don't agree to much because people who haven't got vaccinated are perfectly fine people who have got the vaccine don't really act as normal as people who don't have it.I strongly feel my opinion states a matter
9/9/2021 09:01:08 am
i personaly dont believe in the vaccine only because the scientist who created it didn't test it enough to release it. Many bad outcomes have had happened such as people dying, getting sick, ending up in hospitals. So many people can still get covid with the vaccine because the vacine isnt a cure its a medicine. i wouldn't get it.
9/9/2021 09:02:55 am
i feel like they should'nt let us kids get vaccines because you still can get the covid-19. some kids dont think its needed it. As a teen myself i wouldnt get it do to you can still get it and you it just making you weak and get sick faster then others.
My thoughts on the covid mandate is that its stupid because covid has a 99.9% survival rate theres already a "vaccine" for the virus, do we wear masks knowing that the flu is out there? its all the same propganda bs, and getting us to practice to do whatever they say and not think for ourselves. The problem is bigger than how you think it is...
9/9/2021 09:10:12 am
I think that no one should be force to take the vaccine.it should be optional, students should or shouldn't take the vaccine if they want,I personally wouldn't take the vaccine because i don't want too and because i don't trust it, and if the district says that students most put the vaccine theirs a lot of people who will switch back to home school or switch to a school that doesnt demand.

In a way I believe having a mandate for covid-19 vaccines is a good thing because everyone would be putting in their part to keep others safe. But at the same time I feel like not many people would be okay with the idea of having to get mandatory vaccinated because not many people believe in the vaccine and it wouldn't be okay to go against what people believe.
Dalia D .
9/9/2021 10:43:36 am
In my opinion i think they shouldn't have the vaccine be mandatory . This being because some people have different beliefs on vaccines . But not only that the vaccine hasn't been tested enough to give it to kids .
Cheryl F. P.2
9/9/2021 10:45:03 am
My thoughts on getting the vaccine is mandatory now is that it's for safe reasons. Since everyone close now, it's obvious that we should be safe while going in-person to school. I think that they should have this mandate and people who don't trust the vaccine might differ with the school district. And to not spread covid.
Lydia Gladin (per.2)
9/9/2021 10:45:20 am
I think having the vaccine is a good thing it would lower the covid-19 cases, but if someone does not want to have it they should not have to. I have my vaccines, but it would not be fair for me to make anyone else get it if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable getting it.
9/9/2021 10:45:29 am
I think to have a mandate about students requiring the Covid-19 Vaccine shot would be good because it leaves themselves and other people out of harms way from the pandemic and me personally am vaccinated and i think getting the vaccine shot would be safer and more organized because you'll know who is vaccinated or not.
Leonel Roman (Per.2)

The article says "Cases are on the rise and children are at risk from the Delta variant in ways we didn't see last semester," This shows how it would be a good idea to now enforce the vaccine to be mandatory.

With the mandate of the vaccine it should be an option for students and teachers. It shouldn't be mandatory due to everyone having mixed emotions on the vaccine.

The mandate for COVID-19 vaccines within students is a good idea. The vaccine has proved to be effective and will protect people most of the time. Students don't have to feel worried if everyone is vaccinated in school. If parents don't believe in the vaccine for whatever reason, they can always sign their student up for online classes.
Diane Ruiz P2

I believe that the vaccine mandate is a good thing because its a good way to try and help the virus not spread because even though you can catch it it wont be as bad as in someone who doesn't have it and you run low risk of catching it and this is a good way of keeping our older loves ones safe
Tyjanee Slaughter (P2)

I agree with this and this is what people aren't understanding. It can also do good as much as it can do bad. We don't know what the effects are most people who have died did not have the vaccine almost 98% to be exact
9/9/2021 10:46:41 am
I think getting vaccinated should not be mandatory I think everyone should take their time and think about what they want. At the end of the day everyone is their own person and should decided what they want.

I think that the mandate would be good, but at the end of the day; it is your body and choice. I think the vaccine would be helpful, but I know there are many parents that do not feel comfortable having their kid take the vaccine. It should not be mandatory because people should be able to have control over their body and if they do not feel comfortable then they may stress and create a bigger issue.
Arely M. (Per 2)
9/9/2021 10:47:34 am
I think that the mandate could be a good thing to keep everyone safe but at the same time I don't think it should be forced on anyone who doesn't want it. The vaccine also hasn't been out that long so people might think different but i believe it would be good thing but should be optional.
9/9/2021 10:47:45 am
I think that they are doing the right thing by making the vaccine being mandatory. I think this because it will help with eliminating the virus faster and help it be safer to attend schools.

Even though I'm half vaccinated, i don't think it's far for those who are against the vaccine due to personal reasons. It's unfair because many individuals have their own believes and that shouldn't depend on their education.
9/9/2021 10:48:19 am
I believe that you should have the choice to either get the vaccine or not. It definitely feels safer to be around someone who is vaccinated because the chances of getting covid is much lower. Although, nobody should feel forced to.
heaven williams .
9/9/2021 10:48:30 am
being forced to take a vaccine ?? i dont think people value others opinion on the vaccine.. people dont even know if the vaccine is safe. in my opinion i wouldn't even get the vaccine until i know its certified. its not okay to just make something mandatory if people dont want the vaccine,
9/9/2021 10:48:36 am
My thoughts about the mandate are, it doesn't really matter to me. If that mandate makes it safer for our environment at school and in general, then I think it should be mandated.
9/9/2021 10:48:44 am
I believe people or us humans shouldnt be forced to do things we might think is not good for us and our believes. we also dont have enough eveidence the vaccine is good for us and the state is already forcing us to go get it . it sounds like the state is going againts what our believes our, in my opinion isnt right.
9/9/2021 10:48:54 am
I think making the covid-19 vaccine mandatory is a good thing because then we know everyone around us is doing there part to staying safe.

I think require Covid-19 vaccine for students is a great thing. I know a lot of people who doesn't want to get it, but it does not affect just them but the whole community. To avoid students getting the virus and causing another quarantine, to be able to be at school as we used to and to do not still losing class time to do the Covid test the vaccine should be provide and require in schools. I already got both shots, and I feel more comfortable and safe.
9/9/2021 10:52:07 am
i personally think the mandate is a good thing but i do understand both sides. I do believe should have the option to do what they want put in their body. I also believe due to the covid outbreak and how it's uncontrollable, forcing vaccines would help control the virus. In the article "Los Angeles Unified School District set to vote on mandating Covid-19 vaccines for eligible students" supports the idea on how the covid-vaccine would benefit all.
Valeria Montes (period 2)
9/9/2021 10:52:56 am
My thoughts on the vaccine becoming mandatory is that it's wrong because I think that people should be able to decide for themselves. Some believe the vaccine helps with preventing Covid and some believe that there's no purpose to the vaccine because some vaccinated people are still getting serious Covid symptoms. For example, in the article it states, " The district is trying to do everything we possibly can to keep our schools safe." I think this can be continued to be done by mandating a covid test weekly and having to wear a mask, not forcing students to vaccinate themselves.
Ricardo Rivera P:2
9/9/2021 10:53:43 am
I strongly dis-agree with making the vaccination mandatory. I just dont trust it , for example the flu virus has been around a little more than 100 years ago, and the vaccine for the flu was finally provided almost 30 years after the virus out break. So how are we supposed to trust this vaccine that has been out less than a year and the the covid-19 pandemic has been out for less than two years . As if it was to fast and maybe even sloppy.
9/9/2021 11:01:21 am
In my opinion we should have student vaccinated because the virus is getting rapidly expanding and effecting a lot of people so we can get the students a vaccines the ones who can get it
9/9/2021 11:21:56 am

I believe this mandate is very bias. This is because everyone has their own beliefs and maybe some are against the vaccinations. In my personal opinion ,after the news clip and reading the article, its a good thing is this vaccine mandate passes at today's meeting. I think that the mandate isn't such a bad thing. I do think that we should be allowed to make that decision, but then again a lot of people are still against it. The covid-19 cases are increasing so we need more people to get vaccinated. I know that it is a risk because everyone reacts differently to the vaccine. I am vaccinated and didn't have such a lovely experience. So, I can see why people may have the fear of getting vaccinated.

My thoughts on the mandating of Covid-19 vaccines for students is that it makes sense because this is done for the safety of the students which should be the number 1 priority in this pandemic, but students shouldn't be forced to get the vaccine in order to go to school because there may be some students who are hesitant or skeptical to get the vaccine.

i honestly don't give a care about wether its mandate or not, i'm already vaccinated so there's not much to worry about, i see people say the parents' should have a choice in it and to be fair they pretty much do, they can choose not to vaccinate their child but just as it's their choice, the school has a choice to not accept those kids onto campus and put them in distant or remote learning. another thing i see is people saying they'll get paid because their making them take the vaccine which makes them money? i don't understand that because, they are making it mandatory so they can save money, like who wouldn't want to save money? overall i think it's a smart move for the safety of the students and staff aswell a smart way of saving money.

I feel like they should've left it as a choice. I feel like the vaccine has something in it and they just want people to put it. They have been trying to have people to put it, they've gone so far to tell our favorite influencers to advertise the vaccine. Since this is supposed to be a free country it should be the parents decision.

I think the mandate is a good move from the LAUSD board.I say this because schools in states like Texas and Florida have very high rates of cases in students. This happens because those states have a strong community of anti-vaccines,mask communities so LAUSD will show an example to those schools in which vaccines do work just like the flu vaccines and pox vaccine.

I feel the mandate is good because it will help lower the cases and help keep every student more safe because of how much we come into contact with each other and it was even more smart of them to make sure that anyone who doesnt have the vaccine cant come in so then the ones with the vaccine have an even lower chance of getting the virus

I think making vaccines necessary to enter schools is a good thing. Its going to slow the spreed of the virus to the point where its barely noticeable. its would also make students and parents feel more comfortable about going to school.

In my opinion i think that they shouldnt make u take it because if u dont wanna take it they are gonna force u ether way and i feel like that isnt right .They should just leave it up to the parents if they want their kid to get the vacine then great but if your parents say no then no i dont have to get it .

i think mandate is a good thing because it would be good to know what your peers have the vaccine and feel protected

i think we should be forced to take the vaccine because covid is getting annoying and we should make the vaccine more accessible to younger people

in my opinion the vaccine mandate is a good idea, it'll help people stay safe. i also think it would help people worry less about catching covid.

In my opinion I think it should be optional because some students don't want to get the shot so they shouldn't force us and I feel like we should still go in campus because it would make us not do our school work if we not in school.

i believe its both a good and bad idea. getting vaccinated makes it safe for everyone especially those who dont like wearing their masks and take it off. its also a bad idea because students shouldn't be forced into getting it but if they dont they can stay home and do distance learning

People shouldnt be forced to get the vaccine if they dont want to and for kids parents should deff be able to choose if their kid gets vaccinated. I understand why people would want others to get vaccinated but i never got covid and still havent so i dont really care who gets vaccinated or not.

I think it shouldn't be mandatory, I think if student or parents feel like they don't want to put the vaccine on there kids it shouldn't effect their learning.
