i think that it is racist because its trying to call black because in the video after the black person uses the soap she turns white.
10/9/2017 01:42:41 pm
i think this racism because they trying to say they soap is very clean and it will change your color.
Jaime Guzman p:4

I think that these images are and not racist.I think it is because they could of just used a dirty kid and just cleaned him.I think it is not racist because DOVE told everyone sorry
Ulises Mendoza P:6
10/9/2017 01:47:07 pm
I completely disagree with Jamie because if you do a racial action against a race then apologize for it, it doesn't change the intention you were trying explain with your porduct and the actions that were taken with it
10/9/2017 11:18:27 am
This is so racist, they should know that people would get offended because of this commercial , why even do something like that when people would get offended because of reason that it shows a reaction before and after using dove.
10/9/2017 11:21:22 am
they saying that black people are suppose to be white with the old advertisement and now dove showing an advertisement of a African american changing into an white women by her taking off her shirt but they saying after washing with dove you'll turn black into a white person

these images show how advertisements can offend a person regarding thier race, culture, etc..... these images are based on african americans trying on a product that is used today. this is a form of racism to africans .

10/9/2017 11:32:49 am
i think that this has to do with racism because they put African Americans then turn them into white. Dove is wrong for making that ad because they know what society we live in and how offensive it was. The pear soap ad is just sad , its basically showing that African American are suppose to be white.
Felicia Arowolo Per.4
10/9/2017 11:45:03 am
The picture of the pear soap and the dove soap is a big example of racism, in that the 2 product want to make everyone white by turning a black person to a white person in terms of complexion.Again both pictures shows an example of white supremacy in both industries in that they want to turn all their buyers who are blacks white.
10/9/2017 12:34:41 pm
In the picture above it is criticizing colored people. It states colored people are dirty. Dove soap was getting controversal remarks because of their advertisement showing a black women turning into a white women after using dove soap. This is a huge example for racism and is showing very offensive details. The racist advertising did not start today or in the present although you can see the first image a black child is being washed in a tub by soap and comes out half white.
10/9/2017 12:35:17 pm
This ad is racist because it basically implies that a black person is "dirty". So, if a person who is dark skinned uses this soap then the aftermath will be them as someone of a lighter color.
10/9/2017 12:39:11 pm
Per5___This is really racist. How are the people or the people that made this commercial not going to know that this is a little racist. They did that on purpose..
Jose Alvarez Per.5
10/9/2017 12:40:11 pm
I think it is racist because they are saying in other words that African Americans are dirty because of their skin color. It's Shows a before and After, and its shows that white people have lighter skin so they have clean skin. I would want the CEO of Dove to get Sued!

10/9/2017 12:41:03 pm
In this picture its saying that color people are dirty. It shows a black women after she showers with dove she turns into a white women. In think this is totally racist.
10/9/2017 12:45:36 pm
these ads shows racism stereotypes and blackface because white supremacy thought that African Americans were dirty and that they would ruin the country which wasn't true which this also manifest destiny. both images are racist and disrespectful toward African Americans the one from 1884 and the one from this year 2017.

The Dove ad is basically stereotype African American are "dirty" and should be using this soap to be clean. As in the picture above, using a White women as a example. But the pear ad is using the soap that will "change" your skin tone which is racist.

I believe that this picture is trying to say that white people are better than colored people and that African American's hygiene is not all that good. The dove picture shows an African American girl before using dove, and after she turned white. This commercial should be band because it's totally racist.
10/9/2017 12:50:32 pm
I think the ads for pear's soap, and Dove are racist because they are saying with their ads that colored people are dirty and if they use this soap they will be clean
10/9/2017 12:51:16 pm
In the picture Dove Soap they are saying colored people should be white by showing an advertisement of blacks turning into white so Dove is criticizing colored people
Bryan Barron p.5
10/9/2017 12:58:32 pm
These sets of pictures both represent racism. In my honest opinion, i believe that Dove did this ad on accident. The reason why I believe this is because the people at Dove apologized right after for the offensive ad. But the other picture, in my opinion, is purely propaganda.
10/9/2017 01:40:35 pm
I think this ad is trying to say that dark skinned people are dirty but with the soap they will feel clean (white). This to me shows racism in a hidden way because it looked like they were trying to hide what they were really trying to say but the image gives off something different from the message it is showing.
10/9/2017 01:41:54 pm
i believe that those pic stand in many ways for example the pic with the baby is messed up cause it straight out shows the subleminal message and that goes the same for the two ladyies with the dove one is black then changes to white
Jimmya jones per 6
10/9/2017 01:42:10 pm
this soap ad is basically calling black people dirty and implying that white people a clean.
10/9/2017 01:43:37 pm
this advertisement is very racist because it showers that after the lady showers with dove she turns white which is basically saying she is dirty and that the white lady is better
Ulises Mendoza P:6

What they did, may have been a mistakes but it still doesn't change the fact that they displayed that offended many people.
10/9/2017 01:51:02 pm
I dont think that the Dove is rasist at all . I feel that People making it more than what it is. But the bathtub one now thats disrespectful
10/9/2017 02:02:05 pm
This image has a lot to do with racism. The image used a African American woman to represent (dirty) before using the soap and used a white woman to represent (clean) after using the soap.

This image explains that the soap is a really good soap that it can even make black people white. This picture is significant because it shows an example of stereotype and racism because they imply that black people are dirty.

This matters because people now and days are using Ad's as a racist way even if they really don't mean it. These are considered stereotypes for woman of color and I believe that it should stop because not only do people feel disrespected but people also have feelings and they get hurt. White Supremacy always has existed even back then in the eighteen hundreds they created an Ad of a white child showing soap to a black child in the tub and this implies that black people are dirty. This world if full of racism and it should definitely be stopped.

These images carry a historic significance due to the fact an ad in 2017 shows a subtle form of racism. In the past ads for example like the image on the left use images of black people to clean the black out of them, emphasizing that their all dirty. In 2017 a Dove ad did the same thing with an image of a black woman taking off her black shirt, in which the next image shows white woman taking off the black shirt or dirty skin from the black woman. Although this has happened i believe that Dove was being idiotic for approving the ad but i don't think it had a racist meaning behind it. I think the director of the ad should come Fourth and explain what "mark" she was trying to reach to the audience

I believe that the both pictures has to do a lot with racism because in the dove picture it shows how after the African American women uses the soap she turns into a white women

This matter because they shouldn't do these kind of video because
10/10/2017 08:50:37 am
too me the advertisment is racist
Anthony Cardona period 1

In the first image it's clear that white supremacists made that soap advertisement saying that their soap works so well it makes a black man white. In the second image with dove, seeing the screenshot as it is my first reaction was "wow they just did that what racism." But seeing the video of the ad my second reaction differed from my first reaction and I got the message the screenshot left out the clear message that they were sending I mean a racist person would think this is racist but really isn't I might see what they see but think differently of what we see.
10/10/2017 08:53:03 am
I believe these pictures are racist because in MY opinion it looks like they are trying to say black is dirty especially the pears soap example.
Sebastian Vasquez Per1
10/10/2017 08:54:09 am
This image is an example of racism because Dove is try to say if you are African American you will turn in to white. They think it's okay to do those ads because they have money or a big company. Also because no one can do anything to them.
10/10/2017 08:56:31 am
Both pictures are ignorant and bringing in a lot of cash from both black people and white people so them being racsit is just a big magnet for money to come in to their footsteps. The more attention we give them the more they will continue to do stuff like this.
10/10/2017 08:58:52 am
In the video it shows how the soap can change your color to a fresh and clean color which was the white lady.Meaning that black people is dirty and dove would be the solution to their problem. In my opinion I say that dove company should be more careful more knowledge to what they want to sell.
10/10/2017 09:01:51 am
The image explains how advertisement is also used as a form of Racism. Both of these pictures are significant because it shows that if you use the soap you will go from black which is considered dirty to white people.
10/10/2017 09:02:00 am
This image is basically an example of showing how good it is to use dove and how it helps your skin while using it when bathing or taking a shower i dont think that this has anything about racism
10/10/2017 09:03:07 am
I believe these pictures are racist because in my opinion it looks like they are trying to say black is dirty and dove is try to say if you are African American you will turn in to white if you clean with there sopa.
10/10/2017 09:22:07 am
These advertisement are very likely to be racist. It's very wrong that a white child is bathing a black child giving a message that African Americans are dirty and it will change their color skin. They should have not put it out in the society like that. There could have been other ways to give a message to use this kind of soap instead of using racism. Dove is out too because they are still using racism especially that its 2017. That's a shame.
10/11/2017 11:52:40 am
The historical significance of the black and white women using the dove soap is to show that the soap is made to change the skin tone of colored people because in the picture the blakc girl was lifting up her shirt and when she took it off she was the while girl
