A common issue we face as black men is micro aggressive behavior towards us that are a result of the culturally dominant forces of racism and prejudice in American society over the last four hundred years. For example, the fact that wearing our hair naturally oftentimes is associated with us being wild or not professional. Too often when I had dreadlocks I was asked why isn't my hair normal or when I cut them I was told by many people that I looked handsome now that my hair is "normal". Why is it that what is natural to me is considered not normal? Another example is the notion that when we wear a hooded sweatshirt we are a hoodlum and are up to no good. If hoodies mean a person is up to criminal activity why are they sold? No other group has to worry about that when putting on a sweatshirt.

The simple fact that we as black males, have to try and carry ourselves in a way white males dont in every aspect of our lives, whether its with walking down the street, going shopping, the way we dress, and our view/approach toward life period. We as black people have to watch over our shoulders at all times, and dont even recognize it. I honestly dont know how we can change it, but i know it can happen.

when i was walking to the store with my cousin we were stopped by the police because we fit the description of "potential" suspects who "might" have robbed somebody.I feel many Black Males would understand the frustration of your time being wasted because of an assumption. In my opinion the only way to fix this issue is to stop being black males, meaning we need to and are the only ones who need to change our condition.

A issue we face as black men is that we are socially profiled on a daily bases. When in "white areas" the people always tend to watch us closely as if we are out to harm them. As blacks we have to stop adding onto/ feeding into the stereotype that blacks are criminals.
