I agree definitely. Does that justify us being violent? Is it our fault. In what other ways are the effect s of slaver felt today.

I must DISAGREE with you Mr. Lawson and K Dot. I don't believe black people are any more violent inherently (by nature) than any other group of people. Do I believe that we have internalized violence and perpetuate the behavior? Yes. However, white people utilized violence to implement slavery in the first place. So how are we more violent than them?

A lot of times, people like to say that black people kill more black people than white people do as a way to paint us as savages. Though we do kill each other global statistics show that most people are killed by people they know and more white people are killed by white people than any other group.

Let's change the narrative. Violence is bad look for everybody. With regards to Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson. These are separate individual cases. I make no excuse for their behavior (the spousal abuse and alleged child abuse). However, I believe that the public reaction and media portrayal of these instances are often grossly inflated. "See! Look! They beat their kids" "See! Look! They beat their women"

Kill that noise!! Domestic violence is a societal problem not just a black one.

I believe that both blacks and latinos are fairly violent, because we have a reason to be. Our ancestors died and suffered so that we can live the lives we live today.

The way i see it, white people caused us to act violently b/c we tried the peaceful way. Then they began to fight and hurt us so we had to go down the violent path.

I think at times Black Men can be a little more violent. But it is only due to the fact that we have a lot of problems to deal with so when someone says something we tend to snap in a harsh way.

Black men have to deal with being harassed by police, gangs, and just being look at as less of a person by this world. This Black Men realize that since people want to tell me I'm this dangerous, violet, off centered person. this makes them do them kinds of things

@ Uncommon Marks -BMYA: Thank you for raising the conscious discourse on the course blog. I do agree with you in that black people are not more inherently violent than other groups and I also agree with King_Kelsey in that generally speaking black people are more violent due to the physical and emotional violence suffered with the American chattel slavery system and subsequent conditions that event has helped to form. Violence is truly a collective problem and domestic violence suffered by women and children is a distinctly poignant issue that affects way too many. I agree that the reaction to the NFL players has been inflated but I think that it is due to their inflated exposure and bank accounts. Their profile and place in society coupled with their race has caused the "noise" being so loud.

No doubt the narrative and consciousness needs to be changed.
